Many of us have experienced the terrible moment of making an unfortunate teeny tiny move that tilts a relationship in the wrong direction, triggering a domino effect of mistakes that end up transforming it forever. The same happens in the Earth system, but we only figured this out a few decades ago... Yeah...

Climate tipping points are the make or break points of the climate system and crossing each of them happens at different levels of global warming. Scientists have figured there are 16 of them and ask us to be careful, because we’ve been wreckless and the consequences of crossing Earth are much worse than any breakup you might have experienced, even if that’s hard to imagine.
